About us

Milton Court Rest Home is a boutique home providing residential and dementia care to our residents. We are one street back from the beach. The home is set in a relaxed landscape, with lovely courtyard gardens view-able from lounges, bedrooms, and the dining room.

Dementia care

Milton Court Dementia Care opened in August 2011 with a dedicated wing. Our dementia unit provides care for residents with dementia-related illnesses.

rest home care

Our trained staff promote independence for as long as possible, while catering for varying levels of care.

respite care

Respite allows caregivers to take a break or holiday. There are also situations for those who have recently been hospitalised.

Activities

Our activities are arranged for five days per week. Van outings are available and attractions are visited weekly, including beaches, public libraries, shopping malls, etc.

Exercise Programs

We offer group exercise programs. The program offers the chance not only to improve fitness but to socialise and enhance their general well-being

Support

Rest home level care includes accommodation, meals, laundry, room cleaning and personal care. Nursing staff manages all medical requirements for the resident.

Community

Community groups come to our facility and provide services for all our residents. We take residents on as many outings to community events as possible.

Our Staff

All our staff are trained within the rest home by our Nurse Manager and also from external sources such as the Waitemate District Health Board. Our staff continuously undergo education programs, e.g. Careerforce.

Our Home

Our monitoring systems ensure that all residents have programs tailored to their individual needs. At Milton Court, our residents can enjoy assistance 24 hours a day from staff at the push of a button.

Community

Milton Court Dementia Care is specifically designed to meet the special needs of those with dementia. Our dementia care is provided within our home in two dedicated wings, Turquoise and Amber wings.

Small dementia unit wings give us the opportunity to know our residents and families.

In a smaller setting, staff can notice any changes that need attention. Research shows that people with dementia respond positively to surroundings that are relaxed, homely, easy to navigate and spacious. For these reasons, our Turquoise and Amber wings are purposely designed to be on a small scale with a home-like environment. Because of the small, intimate atmosphere, it is easier to decorate the room – linking the decor to the memory of residents.

We encourage residents to carry out small tasks throughout the day, such as gardening, cleaning, hanging out washing, folding clothing, etc. This can help retain self-esteem and involvement in daily life. We have a dedicated activity co-ordinator who organises activities, such as arts and crafts, walking to the beach, sing-along music, and one-to-one involvement. The activities result in meaningful social interaction. This interaction enriches the resident’s physical and cognitive wellbeing through their participation.

Bethany Hill is a 30 bed specialist dementia care rest home that has southern views over Whangateau Harbour and Omaha Bay while having rural views to the North. It is set on more than 2 hectares of land with native bush and hills. Our private, secure, and landscaped gardens provide safety for the residents to have the freedom to come and go indoors and outdoors as they please.
